Finely Woven Antique Prayer Design Persian Isfahan Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Early 20th Century – A lovely prayer design tree with pairs of curving boughs unfurls along the body of this antique Persian rug. The overall design is symmetrical and brims with striking botanical fixtures as well as skillfully depicted animals. Around the central tree, willows and flowering branches fill the white space. Deer prepare to bound away along the base, and several birds with neatly feathered wings perch in the branches of the various trees. A dark area caps the pattern, embellished with more avians and bountiful grapes on sturdy vines. A slim, black-shaded bar surrounds the central area of this antique rug, displaying small round flowers and tri-lobed leaves, matched by a similar bar on the outer edge. Between them rests a wide, orange border with many-petaled flowers gracefully poised among curling leaves of this finely woven antique Isfahan rug.
