An Amazing Flat Woven Geometric Design Room Size Vintage Swedish Kilim Rug, Country Of Origin: Sweden, Circa Date: Mid-Twentieth Century – Here is a lovely vintage carpet – a vintage Swedish kilim that was woven in Scandinavia during the middle years of the twentieth century. Espousing some of the finest traits of mid-century Swedish rugs, this lovely example boasts a high contrast pallet as well as beautifully rendered geometric detail throughout. A simple border of sienna brown runs along the perimeter of the piece, its corners decorated with small geometric detail elements that push the entire corner area of the border into the field. That field is a bright, radiant shade of white, sufficiently vibrant to make the grey and brown figures stand out in a dynamic fashion. The large grey shapes are arranged in such a manner that they appear to be dancing around the central figure, which is the same shape but colored a deep shade of brown. Within each grey shape, a center of brown and yellow helps to unify these figures with the central shape, as well as with the borders. An exciting and truly compelling work, this vintage Swedish kilim is a powerful example.
