Beautiful Square Size Vintage “Fasad” Marta Maas Swedish Kilim Rug by Marianne Richter, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Scandinavian Rugs, Circa Date: 1950’s – This calming vintage Swedish Kilim rug is titled “Fasad” and was created by Marianne Richter for iconic atelier of the great Marta Maas Fjatterstorm, is truly a magnificent example.

Its azure aesthetic is blissfully modern and is a masterpiece that will add a soothing oceanic charm to any home’s interior design aesthetic. This rug’s design is simple at first glance, but as the eye is drawn in by the entrancing blue tones, more complex shapes, shades and patterns appear. This vintage mid century rug is artfully designed to create the impression of calm waves in a crystal clear sea or a brilliant, cloud free sky during a beautiful summer day.

The only base color that is used in this beautiful vintage square size rug is blue. But the blue base color varies throughout and takes on shades of soft blue based purples, greens and grey. These slightly different colored hues of color are used to create a soft visual effect. This subtle gradient affect is quite complex and the more time one spends looking at it, the more appreciation they will get for just how complex this beautiful Swedish Kilim rug truly is.

Another fascinating aspect of this vintage kilim rug is the fact the only some of the squares are wobbly while others are completely straight. This further gives an ocean like feel…  as if one is peering off into the distance where the exactness of the sky meets the waviness of the ocean.

Two of the opposing end borders are adorned with a wispy checkered design. This end design features alternating blueish squares that are each flanked by white squares that help create the divide. These delicate outer trims, on the two borders, perfectly frame this vintage mid century Swedish Kilim rug and adds a sense of completeness to the overall artistry and artistic impact.
