Vintage Scandinavian Swedish rug, Country of Origin: Scandinavia, Circa Date: 1920– A repeating pattern of stripes crosses the body of this vintage Scandinavian rug. Formed from complementary orange and blue hues lifted from opposing sides of the color wheel, the stripes are formed of smaller bands, alternating warmth with coolness. A slim line of tan and darker brown, like a shaded beam of pale wood, is anchored in the midst of each blue stripe on the vintage rug. In turn, the orange stripes contain very thin bands of both shades of blue, giving them the appearance of floating, like wooden docks over a shallow lake. The illusion-ed design is strengthened by the dark blue at the base of each orange stripe, resembling a watery shadow.
