Beautiful Vintage Flat Woven Moroccan Kilim Rug, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Moroccan Rug, Circa Date: Mid 20th Century – This beautiful vintage flat woven Moroccan Kilim rug features horizontal stripes of many different colors with ivory stripes between them. The colors of the stripes vary greatly, including both warm and cool tones. The thin stripes in this Moroccan rug have a delicate appearance, allowing the different colors to play off each other. The presence of the ivory in-between the bands of color allow the colors to stand independently of one another creating an elongated appearance and giving the eye places to rest as it travels along the length of the Kilim rug.

The pattern on this vintage Moroccan Kilim rug is continuous. The warm and cool tones blend together to create a harmonious design that spans the entire length of the vintage rug. The bands of color become wider toward the edges, showing the true brightness and vibrancy of the colors. These colorful edges give the Moroccan Kilim rugĀ  a natural border that draws the eye to it. The shape of the rug is a long rectangle, and the horizontal stripes go in the opposite direction to the longer edge of this rectangle. This brings the eye very naturally down the length of the rug without making it look excessively elongated. The horizontal stripes seem very natural against the overall shape of the rug.

The Moroccan Kilim rug is from 20th century Morocco, located in coastal North Africa, and while looking at it, you can see the amount of history present in the weaving and pattern. This Oriental rug is a stunning piece of history and the play of color and line makes it wonderful to look at.
