Barbara Rae Schaefer Tapestries – New York City artist, Barbara Rae Schaefer explores the essence of life, time and space through her abstract tapestries which take the viewer on a thought-provoking journey through ideas and emotions. Her work portrays a universe in constant motion, inspired by linear Aramaic and Chinese calligraphic scripts seeking to make order out of chaos.
Ms. Schaefer is an internationally known artist who has exhibited extensively in galleries and museums both in the United States and abroad and has represented America at the Salomne D’Autumne in Paris, France. Her work was shown at the City Hall of Oslo, Norway, site of the annual Nobel Peace Prize Awards Ceremony and traveled to Rome, Italy to be on view during the week of mourning for Pope John Paul II. Another piece “Encountering the Second Commandment” now resides in the permanent collection of the American Jewish Museum in Pittsburgh.
