With this vintage mid century modern rug, the pile side of the rug is a striking solid crimson red. However, when you turn the rug over, it reveals a traditional Moroccan rug design. This design is created by what would appear to be the flat side, or reverse side of the Moroccan Berber rug.

The design side of the of this magnificent and lush red carpet consists of crimson, tan, midnight, and ivory. It is a complex geometric rug design that consists of smaller squares that come together to create a series of larger squares. It has a formal central motif and complex borders. The more simple and geometric design shapes allude to its tribal origins.

One of the interesting elements of the reverse side of the crimson red Moroccan Berber rug is that it has horizontal, but not vertical symmetry. One half of the rug is different from the other half. Yet, it is tied together with a border that gives the design cohesiveness. The design of the rug feels as if if actually keeps extending far beyond the rug’s borders, as if the rug pattern and design was cut from a larger size rug.
