Nazmiyal Collection: Where Technology, Customer Service, Hard Work and Antique Rugs Meet!
I would like to take this opportunity to share some of my thoughts about Nazmiyal as a company, and about our collection of antique rugs.
Nazmiyal Antique Rugs – I have been working in this industry for the past 15 years. Prior to joining Nazmiyal, I worked with other companies as well as on my own. When the opportunity came along 14 years ago to work for Jason Nazmiyal I jumped at the chance.
There were a few reasons why I chose this path. First of all, I have a deep appreciation and love for antique rugs and antique textiles. It almost goes without saying that Jason has one of the best tastes as well as the inventory to back it up. He is also one of the most forward thinking people in this industry. That alone was a major contributing factor in my decision come on board.
Jason allowed me the opportunity to help spearhead the development of our online presence. I remember the day when we decided to invest all our efforts to create the most erudite website devoted to these great works of art. Back then, I also remember how other rug dealers were all making fun of us….
“Who would buy a $100,000 rug from a website” was just one of the many comments we heard again and again (from dealers who thought that all our efforts were simply ludicrous).
But we pushed forward and continued to develop our website. We had dreams of becoming the best source for information about antique rugs in the world. We called upon people from the art world, universities, museums and even the interior design community to help us compile the articles and information you see before you today.
It took years of hard work, research, and development to get where we are today. Through the Nazmiyal website, we have added so much needed transparency to this industry. We were the first to add prices to items on our site which was considered a controversial move on our part.
This forced other companies to follow in our footsteps. By doing so, much of the ambiguity surrounding the price points of antique rugs was removed.
We both felt (and still feel) that by creating this website, we have gone above and beyond to push this industry into the 21st century.
Jason has invested everything he has into building this company. He was also the first person, that I met, in the industry, that put the client’s needs front and center. Understanding what people want has been a major component of the way we do business. Making our antique carpets easily searchable online is so important to our clients and as the technology improves so does our site.
Every single rug has a description, more images (and good images at that). In addition, one can even take the time to learn about the history of every single rug’s origin, design and many other factors.
The website itself is one of the many other factors that proved vital to our success. Another is our personal…. Just knowing how to sell something is not enough. Our education based approach is so different from any other rug company I have encountered thus far. That is why each expert we have is knowledgeable about more than just colors, size and price. Our staff is here to help, not push. This makes it vital that we only employ people who share his / our passion for antique oriental rugs as work of art.
Like any other rug dealer, we do need to sell constantly to be able to stay in business. Selling continually also offers us the ability to purchase good pieces as they become available. But with that said, Jason is not a great believer in a “selling centric” approach to this industry. He feels that our job, is to offer the best examples, at the lowest price points possible. In addition, he believes that we should supply the customers with all the necessary information about the rugs and that at the end of the day, the best piece for the best price will rule the day.
Jason is truly committed to offering people value. By offering better and higher caliber rugs at lower price points, Jason is placing more exciting antique carpets in people’s homes than anyone else.
By selling better antique rugs, at lower price points, more people are appreciating the beauty of these great works of art. This makes the rugs even more coveted by people from all walks of life.
At the end of the day, Jason has taken it upon himself to lead the antique rug world. His dedication to every single customer is unmatched and rivals those of other high end brands and companies. He will go to greater lengths than anyone I know, to ensure that every single customer is happy before, during and after the sale. He stands behind everything we do and sell 110%.
His outlook and passion is one that I have admired from day one.
So why did I chose to work for Nazmiyal for the past 14 years (and hopefully for many more to come)? The answer is simple…. I wanted to work for an antique rug company that not only has the best inventory, but also the understanding that a sale today is not as important as the relationships we build. I was also looking for a company that understood that in order to survive, we would need to embrace emerging technologies – not run away from them!
His reputation, honesty, and integrity is unquestionable! I wanted a “home” where I could look into people’s eyes and be able to say: “you bought a great piece at an unbelievably great value”.
Working for the Nazmiyal Collection has been (and continues to be) one of the most treasured experiences of my life. I can’t thank Jason enough for this great experience and felt compelled to share my thoughts and feeling with the world!
