Palace Size Silk Indian Suzani Embroidery, Origin: India, Circa: Late 17th Century – Here is a truly magnificent antique Oriental rug – an antique Suzani embroidery that was woven in India during the latter years of the 17th Century. A monumental work, this embroidery, which measures 13 by 26 feet, is possessed by a graceful and elegant beauty, from incredible detail work to a compelling composition. Consisting of a series of what seem to be stacked rectangular portions, this Suzani embroidery is exceedingly rich in detail throughout. Alternating portions of the embroidery are colored pale blue and gold, and each features a complex tangle of elegant vine scrolls and and richly detailed floral elements. Indeed, this large Suzani embroidery is clearly woven in the traditional manner of its smaller cousins, its gorgeous detail work an impressive rendering of a style that is usually confined to a smaller space. Beautifully woven and remarkably well preserved considering its advanced age, this antique Suzani embroidery from 17th Century India is a truly unique and remarkable example of fine antique weaving.
