Large size decorative Turkish antique Oushak rug, Country of Origin: Turkey, Circa Date: First quarter of the 20th century – This antique Turkish rug is wrought from tones of brown ranging from sandy and light to a dark, chocolate richness. The centerpiece is a pale medallion accented with dark line-work to create stylized roses flanked by vines and smaller blossoms. The jagged edge is starkly offset by a dark, earthy background, which is studded with flared cross figures stitched in tan. Additional medallions are linked to the first by leafy lines like stems, their complex forms filling the body of the antique Turkish Oushak rug. A set of borders encloses the central pattern in this antique rug, each filled with light-hued brown stems and leaves worked around miniature flowers.
