Antique Turkish Konya Rug, Origin: Turkey, Circa: Late 19th Century – This absolutely stunning antique Oriental rug — an antique Konya piece made in Turkey some time toward the end of the nineteenth century — is a truly remarkable rug to behold. Very traditionally Turkish in very many ways, this rug is characterized by symbolic goz motifs, which, traditionally, serve as protection against the power of the evil eye. The goz symbols border the field and perfectly complement the tiled figures used within the geometric field design. Latch hook scrolls, striped guard bands and bold accents woven in a stately triad oxidized colors all come together to create a charming overall composition with a prominent blue, Terra Cotta and brown color scheme — all of which add to the warm, Mediterranean feeling of this late 19th century Turkish small rug from Konya.
