Beautiful Antique Tribal 18th Century Turkish Daskir Rug, Country of Origin: Turkey, Circa Date: 18th Century – Here is a remarkable antique Oriental rug – an antique Daskir carpet, woven in Turkey more than two hundred years ago, at the turn of the nineteenth century. A truly exceptional example, this antique Konia carpet is characterized by a vibrant color pallet, which includes impressive and bold shades of red, blue, green and yellow. A striking border surrounds the piece, characterized by a procession of brightly colored geometric floral figures, which contrast strongly against a dark brown. Within the field, the carpet is effectively broken up into a monumental medallion format, with the large red portion surrounding a smaller yellow figure, geometric and intriguingly detailed. Three blue and one green corner piece give this carpet an intriguing quality of asymmetry, which gives the entire composition of this antique rug a more tribal impression than perhaps it would have otherwise. A unique and remarkable carpet, this antique Konia is an intriguing example.
