Antique Persian Tabriz Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Early 20th Century – Drawn with a superb level of detail, this antique Tabriz rug is a masterpiece that expounds on the beauty of the traditional medallion form. The heavily patterned field is covered with radiant inset medallions that fade from earthy neutrals to deep blues, golden yellows and salmon pinks. Deeply notched edges with serrated edges and elegant leaf-shaped contours merge with neighboring elements to create an outstanding counterchange pattern that progresses through each outward layer. Phenomenal reciprocating borders frame the masterful composition and display an exceptional level of originality. Clear golden-yellows, ruby-reds, whites and blues that appear in the lavish field on this Persian rug are reunited in the stellar borders, which feature an unusual, beautifully drawn pattern of interwoven arched calyces that are separated by neutral wedges of negative space that emphasize the highly ornamental pattern.
