Antique Persian Sultanabad Rug , Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1920– A delicate latticework of pale colors fills the red body of this antique Persian rug. The pattern works around regularly spaced medallions of nest-like flowers layered with alternating colors. Delicate greens and blues work with pale red and yellow to set off a pleasing contrast against the bright red hue, wrought into interlinked flowers and stems strewn with leaves. A narrow green bar woven with a floral vine encloses the vivid space on this antique rug. A wide border backed in blue follows, ornate and colorful flowers depicted within. Another two slim bands rest outside the widest, leading to a stark red field that completes the Sultanabad piece.
