Large Size Beautiful Antique Persian Sultanabad Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th Century – Earthy tones accented by blue and yellow dominate this antique Persian rug. The wide central field of this remarkable antique Persian Sultanabad rug is backed with a brown as rich as soil, stitched with floral elements in a symmetrical pattern that looks as if it could be painted onto the textile. Feathery fronds in blue, tan and brown curl around a number of broad flowers in the same colors, connected by curving lines that form diamond shapes. A narrow blue and tan border encloses the pattern in the middle, leading to a chocolate-hued strip with alternating red and blue flowers winding about the antique rug. A wide band of russet brown features a pale yellow, leafy vine strung with blue, brown and white flowers, a dark counterpoint bordered by another slim, flowery bar.
