Antique Persian Serab Rug, Origin: Persia, Circa: 1900 – A series of stacked lozenges with straightened latchhooks modeled after burdock motifs embellish the fine white field. Charming animals and birds woven in a simplified, geometric style decorate the field along with bereket motifs and symbols for protection against the evil eye. The stark field is framed by sophisticated jewel-toned borders in lapis blue, garnet and an exceptional shade of turquoise. Each border is decorated with delicate variations of Persia’s traditional reciprocating vinescroll motif.
