Fine Antique Persian Senneh Rug, Origin:Persia, Circa: Late 19th Century – This antique Senneh must be viewed more than once to take it all in. Ruddy shades permeate all areas of this Persian carpet complemented by earthy fawn and contrasted by sparingly employed deep blues. The secondary boarders consist of alternating rosettes and leaves while the primary stripe features floral amulets interspaced with florets and intertwining stylistic vines. The interior is a tour de force of the carpet weaver’s art. True to its Kurdish ancestry, this Persian employs finely executed patterns throughout its entire ground. Recurrent stars radiate droplet-shaped boteh throughout the central field, and fine botanic and celestial motifs populate every space between. Rows of red dominated groupings alternate with rows of smaller blue centric clusters, all flowing seamlessly into an ornate and symmetrical constellation. The overall appearance evokes an incredibly precise classical mosaic.
