Antique Sarouk Persian Rug, Origin: Persia, Circa: Early Twentieth Century – Here is an exceptionally traditional antique rug – an antique Sarouk rug that was woven in Persia during the early years of the twentieth century. From its richly decorated and complex borders to its ornate field, this antique Persian carpet exemplifies some of the finest trends to have developed in classical Sarouk rug design. The borders are especially complex, featuring a grand total of five independent border designs, each of which is as prominent and central to the overall design as the last. Two narrow yellow borders frame the central or primary border, which is colored a dark hue and decorated with floral details. The field, meanwhile, is every bit as complex. Colored a beautiful and brilliant shade of red, the field is home to a massive display of traditional Persian design elements. Rich vine scrolls, budding with impeccably designed floral details, dance throughout the field in a precise and symmetrical design. Taken all together, this carpet is a truly impressive display. A charming classical antique Oriental rug, this antique Sarouk carpet from Persia is a truly remarkable example.
