Beautiful and Unusual Antique Tribal Persian Malayer Rug, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Persian Rugs, Circa Date: 1900 – A striking pattern of golden leaves and flowers spreads over this antique Persian rug, almost glimmering against the black background of the central area. The distinctive pattern of this antique tribal Persian Malayer rug is mirrored about the shorter axis, laden with paired boughs that sway outward and branch away in perfect unison. Numerous flowers surround this centerpiece, as well, depicted in the same warm tones of red, yellow, brown and dusky blue. This wealth stands out sharply against the darkness, which is surrounded securely by a band of red-orange displaying stylized blue and white blossoms. An identical bar runs around the outer edge of the antique rug, sandwiching a large, cream-toned border between them. This pale expanse holds a scrolling design of floral elements, including blue flowers and red leaves, accenting larger figures layered with color. Vines curl and twine around them, seemingly unconfined within the bright space.
