Magnificent And Very Fine Small Pictorial Antique Biblical Persian Kerman Rug , Country of Origin / Rug Type: Persian Rug, Circa Date: 1900 - This awe inspiring antique Persian Kerman rug depicts a biblical chapter from the book of Genesis in which God tests Abraham's commitment by asking him to sacrifice his son, Isaac. In this scene we see that Abraham's hand is stayed at the last moment by a messenger from God, and so he sacrifices a ram in Isaac's’ place.

The pictorial scene is framed with budding ferns. These ferns are endlessly winding their way about the perimeter of the masterpiece, but they do so without distracting from the story being told.

The Persian rug weaver portrayed movement and urgency in the position of the subjects. This is conveyed by using detailed facial expressions and the depiction of the garments on Abraham’s arm as well as the messenger’s feathered wings. Both Abraham and Isaac’s clothes are shown as modest and taciturn compared to that of the messenger’s garb which seems to shimmer as if made from the finest silk.

The two onlookers in this Judiaca rug appear to be standing sentinel in the foreground, but slightly angled as if watching the exchange. Both are represented in fine clothing and matching crowns, but with forearms crossed and possibly impassive expressions.

The neutral beige background gives this Persian rug a feel of a more barren landscape. That is offset by the occasional blossom of color in the flowers, petals and blooming trees, which refer to the tones shown on the messenger’s robe.

In the far distance of this pictorial rug, more mountains can be glimpsed that seem to be lit by the pinkish glow of the nearly setting sun. All of the motifs in this antique Biblical Persian Kerman rug, work in unison to create a telling and emotional story of conflict and resolution.

This small size rug can easily be used as a wall hanging tapestry. That said, it could easily be incorporated as a decorative and artistic piece for the floor as well. Regardless of how you choose to display this beautiful rug, it is sure to attack much love and attention in interior decor setting.
