Tribal Antique Persian Bakshaish Gallery Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa date: Late 19 Century – Beautifully colored and intricately decorated, this exquisite antique antique Bakshaish rug depicts an extraordinary allover pattern with geometric latticework cells embellished with symbolic stars rendered in a regal triad of vibrant, softly oxidized colors. The eight-pointed star is a powerful symbol said to represent enlightenment and knowledge, which are considered the ultimate forms of wealth. Tawny maize yellow stars outlined in crimson red, regal Persian blue figures outlined in crimson and bold red symbols outlined in blue are randomly cast across the precisely divided field without seeming contrived or overly organized. The carefully outlined patterns and supreme level of detail continue through the borders and guard-bands, which include reciprocating floral motifs, dainty vine-scrolls and protective crenellated fence outer borders.
