Antique Persian Qashqai Horse Cover, Origin: Persia (modern day country of Iran), Circa: Turn of the 20th Century – This Persian Qashqai antique tribal horse cover was created at the turn of the 20th century in the region of Persia that would eventually become modern day Iran.

One of the most eye catching features of this Persian tribal antique horse cover is the bold and vibrant choice of color. These colors stand out exceptionally well against a more subtle ivory ground, creating an environment in which the intricacy of the patterns can be showcased. The choice of color makes this piece extremely eye catching, as the patterns and design elements stand out so much against the ground color.

The main body of the antique tribal horse cover has a border consisting of a rich, vibrant red as well as details like the evil eye in other colors including ivory and more. The Persian Qashqai border is further enhanced by the addition of some fringe pieces, giving this horse cover an added dynamic layer. The other two portions of the antique horse cover do not have the red border, and the decorative elements are placed further apart. This creates additional space between them which helps to make these pieces appear overall lighter in color, even though they ground is the same tone of ivory as the main field of the horse cover.

There are geometric as well as abstract tribal rug designs, but the most striking element within the weaving of this antique tribal horse cover are the abstracted versions of animal figures. They appear in multiple different colors and even feature delicate pattern details within them, making them appear delicate and helping to embody the skill required to weave these intricate design elements.
