Large Antique Khotan Rug 50182
Antique Khotan Rug, Origin: East Turkestan, Circa 1900 — Like many other Khotan rugs, this one uses smaller flows and relatively simple colors to create a relaxing piece. Several borders frame around each other, their dark outlines set against instances of sandy taupe and soft tan hues in alternating patterns of light and shade. Within each border is a variety of small figures and curls, each standing on their own but still drawing attention to their flow as if they were joined by the same single line. At the rug‘s center is a bright pattern of tangerine and stone, the two colors set against each other to play with the negative and positive space therein.
