The rust colored pomegranate design is featured in warm rusty red tones that are offset and really pop against the elegant blue colored background of the rug’s main field.
The pomegranate motifs in antique Oriental rugs were used to denote fertility and bounty. In this rug, the fruits, branches, leaves and floral blossoms of the pomegranate design are arranged in a symmetrical and geometric symmetrical grid like pattern.
