Size: 6 ft 3 in x 12 ft 7 in (1.9 m x 3.84 m)

This elegant antique Khotan carpet from East Turkestan depicts a tremendous allover repeating pattern rendered in a posh selection of cerulean blue and camel brown.

Antique East Turkestan Khotan Rug, Origin: East Turkestan, Circa: 1900 – Crafted along a cultural crossroads on the cusp of the Far East, this antique Khotan carpet reflects a diverse set of international design traditions. The stately verdigris field is dotted with ornamental rosettes and alternating quatrefoils that have fluid foliage, which gracefully encircles the supporting motifs. The regal pairing of verdigris and camel brown appears again in the distinguished main borders, which feature wood-tone roundels supported by dainty quatrefoil chains. The botanical theme continues in the elegant secondary and tertiary borders. Within these decorative frames, camel colors and deep walnut browns create a strong compartmental pattern featuring directional floral sprays and quatrefoil medallions enhanced by hairline details and contrasting accents. Complex outer borders adorned with stylized shrubs and disguised symbols give the composition on this antique rug a worldly countenance emphasized by these esoteric details.
