Antique Caucasian Talish Runner Rug 70127

Size: 3 ft 7 in x 10 ft 3 in (1.09 m x 3.12 m)

Beautiful Antique Caucasian Talish Runner Rug, Country of Origin: Caucasus,  Circa Date: 1870 – This striking Talish antique runner rug was produced in the 1870’s by a people who traditionally occupied an area by the Caspian Sea. This antique Caucasian rug uses a complex border and three simple octagonal designs, placed against a striking dark background. The band of color in the border creates a beautiful contrast.

This antique Caucasian Talish rug has an oriental feel, but is it of tribal origin. Talish is a village located in what is now Azerbaijan. It is still a small, tribal village in a beautiful, mountainous region. The wool and colors used in the antique rug are produced using local sheep and plants that are found in the local area. This gives the rug a unique personality that reflects the area culture and traditional artistic design.

Talish rugs are highly sought-after for their splendid use of color, unique designs, and the traditions behind them. When the railroad brought the ability to visit the region, it would result in the suppression of the tribal cultures of the Caucasus Mountains. The original works have an appeal that cannot be imitated and makes them as treasured today as they were over 100 years ago.
