The rich heritage of this beautiful antique kilim is perhaps most apparent in the intriguing, geometric detail elements that run along the perimeter of the carpet.

Magnificent Antique Caucasian Shahsavan Kilim Textile, Origin: Caucasus, Circa: Final Quarter of the 19th Century – Deceptively simple in appearance, this comely flat weaving is in fact a rich cultural relic from the Caucasus; woven circa 1880, this authentic Shahsavan kilim is a unique work steeped in history and cultural significance. The rich heritage of this beautiful antique kilim rug is perhaps most apparent in the intriguing, geometric detail elements that are featured along the sides of this antique textile. These are unique from one another, and apparently arranged in a random manner. A similarly geometric and traditional border runs just inside of this parade of shapes, effectively sectioning off a field portion that is the center of the carpet. Here, a straightforward pattern of red and green plaid unfolds, its simplicity a delightful foil to the eccentric detail elements that infuse this carpet with so much character.
