The walnut brown field of this beautiful antique Caucasian Seychour rug features a variety of angular medallions and palmettes surrounded by small-scale protection symbols, angular S-hooks, geometric animals and other motifs. Multiple sets of floral borders and prominent guardbands surround the superbly colored field. European-influenced outer borders feature decorative floral motifs and poppies with pendulous buds rendered in a painterly style. Segmented rosettes and juxtaposed tendrils decorate the crimson red guard-bands while inner borders feature abstract blossom motifs set on a clear sapphire blue background.
