Antique Caucasian Karabagh Runner Rug 50141
Beautiful Caucasian Antique Karabagh Runner Rug, Country of Origin: Caucasus, Circa Date: 1900 – This long runner rug displays white, purple, pink and orange cascading floral clusters in a repeating pattern set against a dark brown field. A narrow pink border carrying white ruyi scrolling symbols frames this rug. The Karabagh (or “Gharabagh” or “Karabakh”) region lies in the Caucasus highlands in eastern Armenia and western Azerbaijan, and over the centuries has often reflected Persian, Turkish and Russian cultural influences. These rugs traditionally maintained a high, very deep pile that rendered them extremely soft and durable.
