Soft and Serene Light Blue Color Antique Peking Rug 49120, Rug Origin / Type: Chinese Rug, Rug Woven Date: 1920’s – This antique Peking rug from China exhibits serene shades of blue arranged in geometric lattices, bolstering the meditative air of the piece. Kisses of pale yellow accentuate leaves and blossoms along vinery that curls around the central medallion of this magnificent area rug from China, a bold knotwork circle. Matching heavy lines rest in the corners of the light cerulean field, coiled with inorganic right angles in perfect contrast to the curving vines within. A series of borders matched in hue and theme enclose the antique rug. Mazelike twists within a labyrinthine band abut a floral lattice, which is staggered with representations of garden variety, from pansies to dogwood and more.

This spectacular antique room size area rug is a reflection of sky, using floral elements to connect sky to earth. This beautiful blue rug was created in the early part of the 20th century and contains elements that have been a part of traditional Chinese art for centuries. This splendid antique Chinese rug is built on a central medallion with some of the Chinese floral design elements spaced so that they highlight the blue that is a reflection of the sky.

The color of this magnificent rug from China uses a simple background color palette with hues of blue, ranging from sky to midnight and even seafoam, against which, the richer blue design elements pop so beautifully. The simple limited color palette of the antique Peking rug does not detract from its ability to convey a fine level of detail within the design elements. This masterful use of color was used to create a sense of balance with the darker color serving as a frame for lighter elements in the middle. This gives the mostly blue and ivory colored Chinese rug the appearance of a framed picture.

Antique rugs such as this, tend to have several interesting organizational elements. First off, this one is based on a central medallion that has symmetrical features. This is highlighted by formal bracketed corners and a multi-layer border. This is superimposed on a large sky blue area with asymmetrical design elements placed within it. It appears as if these rug patterns and design elements are placed symmetrically at first, but when you look closer, you will find slight differences in their execution. It is as if these figures have been placed within the heavenly realm.

This beautiful antique room size blue and ivory Peking rug from China would be an excellent addition to any home or office design that needs a touch of traditional oriental aesthetics to complete the interior design.
