Antique Persian Afshar Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1880– Five glorious bouquets are staggered across the central navy field of this square antique Persian rug, creating a fanciful and striking feature. Each flowery piece showcases two vibrant roses, stitched in contrasting white and red, along with a crimson lily. Smaller flowers jut out on this Afshar rug, along with detailed leaves shaded with blue and green. Smaller sprays of blossoms fill the spaces around the primary decorations, their stems and leaves angular and petals simply wrought. Stray leaves are regularly spaced between these figures. A series of borders contains the square field, their warm hues a lovely complement. The widest, ivory band is full of small but ornate medallions which adds beautiful frame around this spectacular antique Persian Afshar rug.
