Antique Indian Amritsar Rug, Country of Origin: India, Circa Date: 1920– A perfectly intricate pattern fills the body of this antique Indian rug, rendered in white and cream against a field of brown and touched with even darker tones for contrast. The repeating design features a variety of floral and geometric shapes nestled snugly together in perfect regularity, a lace-like decoration across the main body of the piece. Triangular white triangles rest in the corners of this Amritsar, a small contrast that frames the pattern neatly. A set of borders, two pairs of narrow bands around one wider bar, completes the piece. The middle border’s white background is partially obscured by intertwining figures, and the smaller pairs bear diminutive flowers and ornamentation.
