But the use of these elements in this English Axminster antique rug, as a free form, asymmetrical excerpt enclosed by a deep tan border-like outer zone is highly unusual and reflects the taste of the English Arts and Crafts Movement.

The designs are elegant and stately, reflecting rococo or French Parisian design elements. These floral designs draw on Greco Roman design elements to reflect their aristocratic beginnings.
