Swedish Rug, Scandinavia, Early 20th Century – This stately vintage rug from Sweden features a graphic repeating pattern with strong geometric lines, gradient variegation and formal strap work dividers decorated with counter change ladder motifs. The beautifully composed and precisely divided field depicts a beautiful variety of trilateral tiles embellished with beautiful tonal variegation. Mossy greens and cool blue-green hues are juxtaposed against tomato reds and fiery shades of orange. Trebled stripes, rectilinear dividers, strap work details and itinerant ladder motifs rendered in ivory and walnut brown are boldly offset by the colorful tile motifs they separate. In the traditional Scandinavian style, this vibrant vintage rug created in Sweden circa 1920 features graphic geometric motifs rendered in a handsome combination of fiery hues and cool colors.  It is signed GLH, which stands for Gavleborg County Art & Crafts.
