Antique Bidjar Persian Wagireh Rug, circa 1900 - A really successful Wagireh or sampler like this exquisite antique Bijar will work well as an actual rug on its own, in addition to serving as pattern guide making a larger carpet. Here the field consists of a sprawling arabesque vinescroll on a golden saffron ground. A section of what would be a main border interrupts the field like a horizontal panel. A minor border frames the whole composition. While clearly a collection of motifs for a more extensive composition, the piece makes a lovely scatter size rug.
