Antique Senneh Kilim, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa: 1900— This beautiful antique rug speaks volumes for the vision of the artist. It features modern and traditional design elements skillfully combined through the use of negative and positive space. A rich red border that is decorated with diagonally running lines surrounds the centerpiece of the Senneh kilim. The border itself is hemmed by two smaller borders, woven tightly together to appear as a solid block. Upon closer inspection, however, the viewer will notice that there are elegant leaves and floral elements weaving into one other, surrounded by a white shroud. At the center of the rug are rising vertical lines and bars, set against each other in alternating colors of red and white. The elements meet at a tip just before they touch the edge of the border, and gorgeously flowing motifs set against a dark blue background create contrast against the other lines.
