Large Size Antique Chinese Rug, Country Of Origin: China, Circa Date: Early 20th Century – This elegantly beautiful antique Oriental rug — a spectacular Chinese piece from the early twentieth century — is a wonderful work of art that really shows the wide range of styles that exists within the wide world of antique Chinese rugs. This particular piece is a lovely carpet that features an openwork vine-scroll medallion hovering amidst an open, pale green field surrounded by four smaller medallions and corner-pieces. Cloud-bands and a few floral sprays float across the intervening space. Vine-scroll borders frame the field, the main one set against the same pale green ground, and an inner one on pale coral fro contrast. The soft, delicate palette makes this an excellent decorative rug that is also a good example of an airier, softer Chinese style that is as easy on the eyes as it is expertly made.
