Antique Tehran Silk and Wool Rug 45755
Tehran Rug, Persia, Circa 1900 - This exceptional antique Persian rug from Tehran depicts an outstanding floriferous arabesque incorporating grand palmettes, polychromatic saz leaves and traditional Safavid-influenced florals that are set over a subdued ultramarine blue background. The lush arabesque features dense floral motifs rendered in a superb color scheme that incorporates an impressive range of complementary hues. Hairline details accentuate the ornate outlines of each decorative petal and serrated palmette. Sweeping saz leaves feature layers of serrated leaflets rendered in a triad of contrasting colors. Ornate borders and delicate tourmaline guardbands depict layers of interwoven floral patterns with reciprocating details that overlap one another. Bold Prussian blue brackets and colorful Hamsa motifs are beautifully offset by the soft ivory background used within the borders.
