Antique Milas Turkish Rug #44444
Woven with a traditional combination of red, ivory and Persian blue set over an oxidized reddish-brown background, this Milas rug reflects the prevalent influence of semi-nomadic tribes and Turkmen traditions in the classic composition with wide borders and a narrow, compartmentalized field. In addition to a central endless knot pattern, the outer compartments are decorated with segmented roundels reminiscent of duality symbols used in Anatolia through the Far East. Colorful elibelinde motifs that resemble flowers dot the ivory guardbands that alternate between zigzagging running water borders set over an exquisite blue ground and outer borders decorated with an intriguing segmented rosette pattern.
