At the center a quatrefoil of four linked palmettes anchors a larger array of swirling vines, palmettes, medallions leafy sprays in golden and pale blue tones all set arrestingly against a blue-black ground. The various vine scroll borders are so densely worked they attain golden uniformity reminiscent of fine jewelry that serves as the ideal frame for the bolder graphic contrasts of the field design.
