Antique Kashan, Persia, circa 1910 - On this sumptuous antique Kashan a richly contoured and finely embellished medallion with finials spews forth a spiraled mesh of fine vinescrolls teeming with tiny flowers and palmettes on a jet black ground. Elaborate arabesque cornerpieces enclose the field echoing the detail and coloration of the medallion. In turn a vinescroll main border echoes the design of the field on a somewhat fine scale, framing the overall composition while preserving a uniform design texture and palette.
