Camel Hair Rug, Persia, Late 19th Century - Each lozenge medallion is decorated heavily with tribal symbols and bordered by stepped latchhooks featuring intricate double outlines. This traditional carpet is completed by multiple borders filled with intertwining latchhook-squares, fruit-laden vines and double ram's horn motifs resembling geometric turtles. Both the ivory borders and darker inner borders feature a number of geometric and tribal patterns associated with Serab.
