In reality this is not simply a design, but an ornamental vision of paradise viewed though an architectural window. The colors of the vine - soft apricot, red, and pale blue - are especially lovely set against the creamy ivory ground. In place of a large border, several narrow ones combine as a frame that preserves the fine scale and complexity of the field, as well as its coloration, nicely harmonizing the overall decorative effect of the rug.
