Antique Bokara Caucasian Rug 44000
Bokara Rug, Persia, Circa 1900 - Woven by the nomadic Turkoman tribes who inhabited the Caucasus and Uzbekistan, this carpet makes excellent use of the classic Turkmen gul, which uses a series of tile-like quadrants to form a pattern of large and small guls linked by interlocking polygons. Imitating the intense black, red, and white color scheme of traditional kilims, this pile-carpet from Bokara uses many tribal motifs, including double ram's horn borders filled with secondary protection motifs as well as ladders and stepped polygons.
