The delicate contours of the soft green central medallion are emphasized by champagne arabesque edging against the pale mauve ground. The finely wrought vinescrolls of the field replicate those inside the medallion, and they only suggest the form of cornerpieces at the upper and lower edges. The borders rework all the effects of design and coloration but with sparing use of mauve so as to provide an optimal contrast with the field.
