Alen Erfanian – Manager Rug Expert and Antique Rug Specialist: Alen Erfanian was born in Iran, where his father was established as a rug dealer. He has been surrounded by carpets all his life, especially antique carpets. But professionally he came to the carpet world from an initial background in the garment and fashion industry. He arrived in New York in 1989, and for the past twenty years he has worked with Albert Karmely in various capacities – wholesale buying, sales, and management. In Erfanian’s view, carpets work much like textile and fashion design. “It’s all about color. We all look with an individual eye or taste, and everyone’s taste is different or distinctive. But a trained eye will always recognize what is beautiful and exceptional in a carpet. When a carpet is great, we know immediately.” The years of working with Albert Karmely have only confirmed Erfanian’s commitment to the quest of acquiring antique carpets woven with a masterful sense of color and design. |

| Danny Forst – Customer Relations Manager As an English major at the University of Minnesota I developed a taste for the historical significance of writings and how authors, consciously or unconsciously, wove their history into the stories they created. After moving to New York in the summer of 2009 I knew I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me the opportunity to immerse myself in this historical aesthetic. At Nazmiyal I am surrounded by exquisite pieces of art, each carefully hand-woven with the strictest attention to detail, each with its own design and structure, and each with its own provenance. In addition to working with these incredible pieces of art, I work alongside wonderful people who are all passionate about the fine pieces they collect. And because of this all, I feel truly blessed to be here. |
